The Alliance International Hockey Club (the Club) Code of Conduct sets out the values and behaviours expected of all members. It reflects the principles reaffirmed at our AGM in Tilburg 2025 and defines the standards that guide our community both on and off the pitch.
Our Core Values
1. Respect
Respect underpins our club culture. It applies to officials, opponents, teammates, and ourselves.
- Officials: Decisions must be accepted with courtesy and professionalism, even when we disagree. Dissent must never cross into disrespect.
- Opponents: We play fairly and in the spirit of the game. Negative comments or behaviour, on or off the pitch, are unacceptable.
- Teammates: A united team relies on support and encouragement. Criticism, ridicule, or undermining others has no place in our club.
2. Responsibility
As ambassadors of Alliance, our behaviour reflects on the entire club.
- Conduct: At tournaments and related events, we act with integrity, humility, and professionalism at all times.
- Preparation: We commit to maintaining fitness, health, and readiness to contribute fully in every game.
3. Equality
Alliance is a diverse and inclusive community. We represent many nationalities, cultures, races, beliefs, genders, and sexual orientations — and we stand as equals.
- Discrimination in any form is unacceptable.
- Every voice matters, and all members are valued.
- We commit to fairness, empathy, and openness at all times.
By living these values, we strengthen Alliance both on and off the pitch.
Code of Conduct Rules
- General Conduct
All players, coaches, committee members, and representatives of Alliance shall conduct themselves in a way that reflects the club’s values and traditions. This includes acting as good ambassadors, behaving fairly and properly on the field of play, within venues and accommodation, and when travelling. Members must not act in any way that brings Alliance into disrepute. - Improper Behaviour
The following are examples of conduct considered improper, unfair, or unacceptable:
(a) Verbal or physical abuse, hostility, or intimidation towards any participant, official, or member of the public.
(b) Provocative, hostile, or disrespectful reactions to umpire or official decisions.
(c) Feigning injury or exaggerating an incident.
(d) Aggressively approaching or confronting an umpire, official, or other participant.
(e) Using rude, abusive, or offensive language, gestures, or signals.
(f) Damaging or abusing hockey equipment, clothing, venue property, or fixtures. - Public Statements
(See also the Club Privacy Policy)
(a) A “public statement” includes any comment made in print, broadcast, or online, including social media.
(b) Public statements must be fair, constructive, and must not involve personal attacks on players, umpires, officials, or administrators.
(c) Fair comment on the game is welcomed when constructive and respectful, helping maintain the positive relationships between players, umpires, and officials.
(d) Members are reminded that personal comments often reflect on Alliance and must therefore adhere to the above standards. - Medication and Anti-Doping
Members are responsible for the use of any medication during events. Alliance supports drug-free sport and members are expected to comply with the WADA Code and FIH Anti-Doping Rules. - Use of Images
The Club retains the right to use images taken of members during events to promote the Club worldwide. - Betting and Gaming
Members must not participate in or promote betting or gambling activities, including online, related to the events in which they are involved.
Breaches and Sanctions
Any breach of this Code will be subject to investigation. Sanctions may follow in line with the Club’s Disciplinary Policy, available on the Club website.
